Its been a wonderful expedition so far,the journey from Lagos to the desert in Niger republic/Algeria was indeed a great experience to cherish.The endurance training,and adaptation to the climatic condition was simply amazing,i was stuned that i could adjust to a harsh lifestlye,away from the comfort of my bed, tv, a/c car and other luxuries life can offer, but its all good that i was able to adapt and get the message load and clear why the organisation called FADE (Fight Againat Dersert Encroachment) seleceted me to be a part of the expedition.
It was indeed an eye opener to get a one hand info on the harsh realities of the manace the dersert is to the life of the people in the sahara region.We had a sunrise session with the  founder of FADE Dr Newton Jibunoh, when he told us in details about the encroachment and equally showed us to the way the desert encroach into farm lands, roads and the entire enviroments,he told us about the DONOR FATIGUE issue where foreign orgainsations are tired of funding such enviromental issues in Africa for Africans,he stressed that its time for Africans to wake up to their responsibility and fight this manace to a standstil.Dr Newton asked us what we are going to do to as pioneers of this campaign to ensure that his dreams of solving this dangerous threat to our enviroment is sustained while he is no more,he said now that he is 72yrs of age,he had spent 43yrs of his life fighting the desert encroachment with high hope that it will be curtailed to a large extent.In our response  we individually promised to fight it thru awareness,concerts and tree planting campaigns.

On this faithful day i was on my way driving  to the south east to visit my parents ,my attention was drawn to a big signage  i saw along Agbor-Asaba express,with inscripition of a man wearing a turnban that depicts a northern attaire  but another inscription that got me curious was the words”DESERT WARRIOR” i was caught in between thought of imagination of what this was all about but couldnt make head or tail of the meaning of the signage and its inscriptions.In my curiousness i took adequate note of the signage until i got back to Lagos.i did some research about what i saw on the highway along agbor -asaba expressonline and was amazed at the discovery of a man of repute,a man with a burning passion to help mankind fight desertification, man who has feeling and compassion for the soil,this man moved my spirit to understand the intense desire to affect his world postively ,this is a man i have come to respect  and  praise for his bravery and daring exploits in bring the attention of the whole world to the plight of millions of people sufferring in the massive sahara desert  as a result of desert encroachment he is no other than Dr Newton Chikadibia Jibunoh , check him out @ www.fadeafrica.org

Not long ago, a man decided to experiment some facts so he bought some monkeys (5 in number), a cage and some bananas. On the first day, he placed the bananas and one monkey in the cage. As you know monkeys love bananas, the first monkey rushed towards the bananas but as he touched the bananas he was heavily sprayed with water. He scampered away from the bananas for a while but each time he ventured near the bananas he was sprayed with water even during the night. The monkey gave up on the bananas and decided to sleep, while asleep another monkey was brought into the cage. The 2nd monkey saw the bananas, looked at the 1st monkey and said to himself “See monkey! See banana! He must be a fool”. As he moved to touch the bananas, both monkeys were sprayed with water, now the 1st monkey who had been sleeping woke up and was very angry at the new monkey for getting him wet so he gave him the beating of his life. Each attempt of the second monkey was rewarded with a heavy bath and thorough beating.
Two days later a 3rd monkey was introduced to the cage and he exclaimed “See monkeys! See banana! They must be fools” as he moved towards the bananas he was beating blue-black by the other two monkeys and the same thing happened each time he tried. Now 3 days had gone, 3 monkeys staring at a bunch of bananas, yet none could eat. On the 4th day, the 1st two monkeys were removed leaving the third monkey and a new monkey, the 4th was introduced. The same thing happened to him as he thought of eating the bananas, he was beaten. Two days later the last monkey was introduced and as he thought of eating the bananas the 3rd and 4th monkeys beat him blue-black but he managed to ask, “Why are you beating me?” The other monkeys answered him “We do not know but anytime we go near the bananas we were beaten”. The last monkey asked them “Why don’t we try this together?” and with trepidation he went near the bananas, touched it nothing happened, peeled the banana nothing happened, ate one banana nothing happened, as he made to take the 2nd banana the other monkeys rushed at the bananas.
The moral of the story
1. We are the monkeys looking forward to eat the bananas which are a good life, satisfaction, or your dreams. We have been married to tradition all our lives. We don’t know why we do some things but we keep doing it. Our mothers, fathers and friends keep telling us “This is how we do it, you must do it that way”. We keep our old thinking even when the reason is no longer there. The man has died long ago, the water was not been sprayed again but the monkeys kept beating other monkeys. The reason was gone yet the practice continued. This has been the bane of our progress as a nation, people, and continent.
2. Fear factor- it was the fear of getting wet that inspired the beatings, other monkeys never knew but they kept beating. Because someone else has failed in a business does not certify you to fail.
3. We never ask questions- we have always agreed to whatever we are been told without questioning. This is the reason why we may never achieve our most desired dreams. If you ask questions like the last monkey your mind will be opened to certain facts.

I want to reveal a secret to you, please relax. You have already gotten to open this post, so you are ahead of a long line of people who wait a little longer to read. I’m going to share my heart with you, I’ll hope you’ll read me with your heart as well. Once our hearts believe, our heads can easily follow. I’ll also ask for your permission on a few things. If you can oblige me those things, this post and the mail you are about to read, will make a real difference in your life this year! Here are my few requests.

1. Before you continue reading question 2, make up you mind to empty yourself of all prejudices and preconcieved notions about referral based businesses. It might be tough I know, but your preconcieved positions will limit you. Trust me. Read objectively, and look with fresh eyes.

This are all that I require you to have in mind as you read further.

It’s one thing to read about something, it’s another thing to know it, and it’s yet another thing to practice what you read and know. I had known that there were broadly two types of people when it comes to difficult problems, the ones that walk away, and the ones that stay unreasonably to solve the problem. I didn’t know until lately that I was more of the person that walks away than the person that stays to solve and resolve.

For 6 months I refused to participate in a business opportunity that is currently transforming my life! Why did I refuse? I refused because I believed I had gotten enough of referral based businesses (Network Marketing, Direct Selling, Multilevel Marketing, Affiliate Marketing e.t.c.) and I simply had quietly decided to walk away. Can we ensure that Nigerians meet all the board members and that the Chairman also meets all the foreigners?

Problem2: Usually these companies sell products that are of No value to Nigerians. Nigerians participate only because of the financial possibilities from referring others. People end up feeling scammed when they buy products they don’t intend to use, and refuse to market to make the money they planned to make.

Solution: Can we ensure that there are many options of products? Can we ensure that once you buy a particular product you get amazing discounts on the rest? Can we ensure that peopel can get IBM thinkpad laptops (German Refurbished) for as low as N29,000 and get it bundled with other great products? Is it possible to predict exactly what needs to be done to get results? Is it possible to get results without depending on other people, just on one’s own efforts? Is it possible to help people, hear thank you and still directly help yourself? Is it possible to earn even when the person you are helping is 2000 generations and 5yrs away from you?

When you meet or contact people, enter the information you learn into your contact

management software; make note of their interests, what you’ve shared with them, and

when and how to contact them next.

People have short memories. Follow-up regularly with members of your network or

they’ll forget you exist and more importantly they’ll forget that you are the best

person to solve their financial, legal, human resource, design, or other problems.

Contact the people in your network in some way at least once a month.
